In this case watching it from all angles on ITV HD did not improve the experience!

I would love to know what the BBC actually did to cause such fatal errors. Anyone got the inside track on the technical changes?

(And will other HD providers go the same way?)

They are pretty vague on what they did. They went to VBR, there was an encoder firmware update using more of the AVC toolset and the picture is now a mixture of MBAFF and TFF. (Previous iterations of the encoders had been one or the other.)

When Fortec figure it out, it would be great if they could tell us (Or Laurals... ). If the BBC broke DVB-S standards it's very naughty of them!

Yes the september firmware seems to sort out the random re-booting.

Did anybody else see the real-digital look on the latest firmware ? as I could not see any difference to the older firmware release.

Hi. I think a lot Fortec users must have been relieved to see the England match was on ITV HD, And not BBC HD. Once again us guinea pigs were let down by Fortec Star. If you think the England team didn't live up to there promise, where does that leave the Fortec Star guys with there promise.

Was just about to say someone on DS reports receiving an update for their Innovation dated June 17 and it's worked for a couple of hours with no crashes. So this is looking hopeful.

Nothing for me yet though...

No reason except experience.

There has been quite a development curve with the software for these boxes. Mostly they have been improvements but odd new bugs have been introduced at times, such as when in some versions the EPG data would appear twice in the 7 day view for the current day and the next day, making it impossible to set recordings from that screen. (I reported it here.)

So while I'm hopeful I'll be a bit cautious with it for a while before I start to trust it.

FWIW I think the reponse time has been excellent. I didn't know if these boxes were still even supported.

If this was caused by the BBC going out of spec with DVB-S they need to be brought up about it IMO.

I have yet to establish whether the new software will still allow me to receive the HD channels on 19 degrees as well as BBC HD, or is it still a case of either or.

Maybe you have not noticed or read the info, but the fix is in relation to BBC HD only.

The issue is that there was not a problem with these channels in 141 or 142!

The fault has appeared in the new 143!

Let me know exactly what issues there are with the latest firmware, and I shall see if it can be addressed asap, I was under the impression that only the BBC HD channel was an issue, and that had been correctly addressed by this latest release, judging by your posts I was obviously mistaken.

In 142 only BBC HD was an issue.

In 143 the HD channels on 19.2 east have no picture. This fault was rectified originally in 141.
