Hi all,

I've got the QBox HD with a DVB-C tuner, but I can't get it working. Has anyone had any success with the DVB-C tuner?
I tried all sorts of things, all configs, all images but it won't even scan channels, it always finds 0 although the config is right, the cable is right, everything is right but the QBox.

Any success (or non-success) stories are very welcome.

Hi djkoelkast
I do not have this tuner so I cannot comment about problems associated with it.

I am surprised Duolabs has not resolved your problems on their forum.
It seems, "solution from Dualabs.. pending"

I hope you get some feedback on Sataid and/or Dualabs sort it out for you soon.

regards

.

I've been busy for months now, the thread with all details can be found on the duolabs forum: http://www.duolabs.com/forumz/showthread.php?t=7424

What I try to accomplish here is to find more people who have the DVB-C tuner and either have or don't have success with it. Or there may even be someone with a solution.
The most frustrating part is Duolabs never resonds in a way like "we're working on it", they ask some questions (connecting to serial cable), I post answers and then it becomes quiet. The moderator there GEDTHETED2 has tried a lot to help, but as he's not working for duolabs (just mods the forum) he can't do much either.

While you are waiting for a reply, the following might help.

For LOOPTHROUGH testing purposes, if you have a cable or other stb with cable tuner.
Connect a loop cable from Qbox cable tuner output to second cable stb (Qbox on standby) Can this second cable stb detect a signal?..

Also I have uploaded the Dada sheet (in rar file below) for Phillips DVB-C CU1216LS family of Tuners, one of which should be installed in your Qbox HD.
Apparently there are three different types within this family.
CU1216LS/A GI G V-3, CU1216LS/A GI G H-3 and CU1216LS/A IG G V-3.

Depending on which type you have installed, I wonder if these ranges and connection types make a difference to setting up for your location.. .?..
If qbox can auto scan all three bands with just a single setting, then I don't suppose this info is much good to you and the problem lies elsewhere.

Data Sheet; Page 6;
"Reset Requirements, after power up sequencing, a software reset has to be implemented, this form of reset is managed by host processor"

PS; Did you do a factory reset after you installed the Tuner Hardware and after you changed slots.

hope this helps,
regards

Normally we use IEC connectors only, no F-connectors with cable, they're used for satellite. But that's not the problem, there is a converter from F to IEC and that's connected.

When I try autoscan it says I have to configure the tuner, although it is configured.

For the rest, I think it should be about the same, around 200-600 MHz should be most transponders. All you need to know for cable are the frequencies (or let the tuner scan in frequency steps of 1 MHz, will take a while though), Invertion yes or no (it is no here) and the most important the symbolrate (which is 6875 here, not 6900) and QAM (which is 64 here).
I know all these settings as my DM600 works fine on the same cable with the same settings. I also tried other settings on the QBox with no success.

I'll do the loopthrough test next time. The QBox is not permanently connected as it doesn't work ;)
I did do a factory reset after every test. Also when I installed a new firmware: install firmware, get through wizard (or cancel it), factory reset, software reset (reboot), configure tuner.

According to the images in the sheet (for as far as I understand them) I have CU1216LS/A GI G H-3 or CU1216LS/A IG G V-3.
