This is also on the main fortec website... I've downloaded this, will give it a try, and report back.

I guess the fact its on the website means its not really a Beta, but an actual release!

Hi. Well it seems to have improved the scart output quality so thats a definate plus. But apart from that I have yet to spot what else is different to the last beta release. Must be fair though, There maybe things I have yet to find. I'll give it 9/10 if it is as good as the beta with the scart improvement.

There's no 'REAL Digital' logos unless I managed to pick the wrong firmware from my USB stick!

What am I missing about above comments?
Seems pretty solid - no snags yet - been running for over two hrs so far.
Positive
- colur schems for TV i.e. Movies / Sports etc seem more acceptable although I still prefer Default.
Negative
- still no cotrol of volume via optical O/P
- can't get power search to work still (see 125rel)

Good for me so far too.

The sound problem on changing sats and when powering up seems to have been fixed and the no signal problem I had when powering on has gone too.

Can't see the Real Digital changes either, not sure what that's all about.

Been pretty good so far... still a little slower than I'd hoped when you type in a channel number. It's the irritating flicking of the numbers that really impresses the slowness on you but its only minor.
The other thing I noticed is if I cancel out of the EPG it seems to take a while to return to the TV picture in comparison to how it used to be.... still probably the best firmware yet but I need to use it for a few days to actually 'rubber stamp' it fully :)

Beginning to wonder if it's just me!!

Hi Peteboyd. Sorry to inform you but the power search is working 100% on my Innovation. I deleted 19E and set it to power scan. After a couple of minutes after powering off, Dish moved to satellite and channels restored ok.

Seem to have a problem with ITV HD on astra 28.2

When watching it seems to stick on this channel and lock up. It won't allow you to change channels other than going through the EPG and then it takes quite a while to select the new channel.

Also if you go into personal planner by pressing yellow when the info bar is up the box seems to select ITV HD and get stuck as above.

Otherwise working faultlessly.

Thanks for your info too.
Still doesn't work for me although I know it did away back on ver 124
Think I'll just accept the fact that I'll use normal scan since most other features better in this release.

Thanks for that, maybe it's something to do with the way I have the channels set up then. I have ITV HD on no 10 on all channels list.

Strange how different things are affecting different machines.

Might try a factory reset and reinstall and see what happens.

I have found that sometimes I need to power off completely and back on again (i.e. at wall / not just into standby) if I want to scan in new channels.
Maybe you should try power down / up again too?

Just noticed I have ITV HD at no. 10 as well.

I've grabbed the update from the Fortec Star website, tried transferring it but everytime it gets to 52% of the transfer the Innovation resets itself.

I've also tried another USB pen and re-downloaded in case my zip file was corrupt. Any suggestions?

<< I decided to try updating using the front panel method rather than the SW transfer inside the GUI. Loads quicker at reading the file and it works!!>>

cheers

See my earlier posts here - I have the problem intermittently but in fairness other people don't - seems to be hit or miss!! Try switching off at wall /back on and immediately try search.

Yep - main issue for me is probably the slow change/exit out of the EPG. When you press cancel to exit out it seems to take 3 to 5 seconds (or more) to return to the TV picture.

Loaded 126 a few days ago, no problem loading using guide on Laurals website. 126 is generally working fine apart from the slight problem mentioned above, slow exiting EPG. Also, the last day of the seven day EPG is slow to load.

About one week ago prior to loading 126, I lost both sound and vision, had to reboot after which everything was back to normal. Except I had a problem with the EHD, "Not FAT32", I think I should have tried to disconnect the EHD before rebooting. Plugging the EHD into the front USB didn't help, had upload the contents from EHD to my PC, reformat then download the contents back to the EHD. Everything now back to normal. Has anybody else had this problem?:ummmm:

i recently purchased an innovation and updated firmware to av126fs, however, when i tuned channels in and selected region i have 2 options south west or west country. cant remember which way round at moment but whichever i chose i get either my correct bbc1 (south west) but itv west instead of westcountry. if i select the other region i get bbc1 west and itv westcountry, so either way one channel is wrong. in both cases if i locate the correct second channel and select it and move it in place of the incorrect region channel, the epg for that channel remains blank. as an example i moved itv westcountry from 996 to put it position as channel 3 and nudged channel 103 out of the way. westcountry remains blank.

the innovation has been switched off completely and updated when switched on, but epg for 1 channel fails to populate. i want to use external usb drive and cannot select programmes to record, also 7 day epg only seems to show 1 channel at a time not 7 days for all channels in table form or am i doing something wrong? i am very new to this.

regards.

Other thing i've noticed with this firmware after some longer term use.

1) If I watch ITV HD (unsure whether it affects any HD channel - would need to do some further testing) for a reasonable length of time, not sure how long this is, but the length of a film is a good example.... I'm unable to change the channel without putting the box into standby first. Channel Up/Down do nothing, and if I press OK and try to select a channel, it won't select it.

2) I've had a couple of power cuts in the last few days - it seems if the box was in standby, then when the power comes back on, the box, doesn't go back into standby mode any more, and I'm sure it used to. Got home a couple of times to see the lounge glowing with a nice blue hue from the front panel lights :)

I've now also noticed that I can always continually channel up/down past multiple channels and that it stops until the channel picture comes on, at which point, I can then use channel up/down to move to the next channel, meaning it takes the best part of 5-6 seconds to go from 1 to 3 using the channel up/down buttons :confused8

Edit to add - after powering down the box by the front panel switch, this started working again. Only powered it down as I was trying to do a manual scan and couldn't change the satellite.

Definitely something not quite right with this version...

There is some kind of problem with HD channels.

I was using the ones on 9e earlier (12034) and had the box restart once and crash again once back on.

There is some kind of problem with HD channels.

Have been trying various HD channels (9E / 19.2E / 28.3E) but so far have had no problems with them. Do you have to stay on them for any length of time? I've only tried few minutes at a time.

I was on them for quite a while, yes.

The box has never reset since day 1 of the previous firmware then I scanned 9e and used the HD channels. It reset 4 times after that in one evening.

Spent some time today watching Discovery channels etc on 9E and did not encounter any problem. Watched film on some american football thingy on HBO Comedy - still no problem. Sorry this isn't going to help you I guess!

having not used the innovation for 2+years i sold it to a work colleague and he uses it for freesat.i updated the loader then the latest firmware.i was surprised to see how much it had been improved.the only bugbear i saw was that every channel was listed as 000.i deleted all the channels then let the stb do its thing and when it came back on every channel was listed with a number and it was reordered in the correct number sequence.i was also pleased with the EPG working.a vast improvement.well done fortec star

I've not watched anything on ITV HD for a long time, until last night, when I watched the late film. After about an hour the picture suddenly froze whilst the audio continued to play (cured by a quick Ch up/Ch down), then at the end of the film I found that I couldn't change channel again, although most other options still seemed to work. I then tried to put the receiver into standby to see if a warm reset would free it up, but what happened instead was that the box stayed powered up after the red button was pressed and after a couple of seconds changed channel by itself, after which everything appeared to be back to normal.

Definitely seems to be a little glitch related to this channel with this version (although that's the only problem I've come across since I loaded it a few weeks ago).

When watching it seems to stick on this channel and lock up. It won't allow you to change channels other than going through the EPG and then it takes quite a while to select the new channel.

Meant to post this earlier this week, but when watching Day of the Jackal on ITV HD it "hung up" on me - no channel up or down etc. Has only happened once so far.

- mines still unstable at the best of times ... often get the fat32 not initialised when doing a scheduled recording
- will stop timely responding to the up/down channel buttons to the point where you go up a channel then have to wait till the banner has disappeared before you can move up again.

Lockups when watching ITV-HD for a length of time - have to power off/on to get it to work again.

Also seems to sometimes go weird on startup - showing 'ON' on the front LCD for ages before it does anything... eventually it'll turn on, but takes much longer than used to.

Also the slow switching from EPG to a channel (or cancelling out of the EPG) is a real pain...

Still.... could be worse eh :)

Hi all.
I must be one of the lucky ones. I have only experienced a problem on a couple of occasions (but takes some sorting out). This is the receiver loses the position of the satellites for no obvious reason, It always goes to 10W as it reference point and will not travel beyond 13E under any circumstances. Have tried another motor but it still done this again.
Have used many different setting ie epg 7 days , clock auto & manual, many timer recordings and manual recordings, All without any of the problems of locking up etc.
What I have found though is the system is very fussy about shutting the power to any USB external drive, and has to be shut down via the remote not the power button on unit. Otherwise the not ready or fat32 message appears.
Another is after a timed recording the previous viewed channel list (via yellow button) is cleared.
And yes the Diablo 2.3 is becoming next to useless
Hopes this helps a little bit. Regards bouncerdove.

Hi

I have the same problem with losing satellite location.

No problems with USB recording or shutting down. I use laptop drives that do not require seperate power.

Odd, my Diablo 2.2 is becoming flaky, but my 2.3 works well.

can someone please remind me how i use the zip file to update the firmware?

bouncerdove
26th-May-2010, 19:58
Unzip the file and save to a usb memory stick using a pc.
Power off receiver and insert memory stick in front usb slot of receiver.
Power on and confirm the file found that shows on the front of receiver display using the OK button on the receiver (not the remote). After approx ten seconds remove memory stick or system will reboot and find the same file on memory stick and start all over again.
System should reboot to the new software.
I recommend you back up your channels etc to a memmory stick prior to save having to reprogramme them all in again.

I have been using av126fs update since December with very few problems until recently. In the last few days my STB has started to reboot frequently, usually when I access the EHD, but not exclusively. I have reinstalled av126fs, following a factory reset, but rebooting is still a problem. I would like to hear if anybody has experienced this problem and in particular if there is a solution.

Since my post yesterday the situation has worsened, the STB is now rebooting very frequently whenever I access various functions, eg. menu-channel edit. Again I have reinstalled av 126fs with no improvement. I am now going to try:
going back to November software and see how this performs, if this is OK I will try av 126fs again.
