Just in case the first upload was corrupt in some way, here is a fresh copy of the firmware, the same password is required for access.
Are you installing the firmware via the front panel, as it installed faultlessly for me, and I tend to only install firmware via the front pannel, as in my opinion, it seems to be far more stable.
Attachment Removed as it is no longer required.

I have found that problems also exists if the USB Stick is formatted in Fat, only Fat32 seems to be acceptable, which I found out by using a USB Stick which was formatted in Fat, for use with the AZBox, It never occured to me that Fat and Fat32 would cause such problems, Oh well, we live and learn.

And then they bring out NTFS.
Software looks good though, And I must say it's been so long since I had to do a reset and install under the last software I had to sit back and remember how to do it. It's been that stable. Thanks.
Regards bouncerdove.
PS stick was fat32 as it had the hoppy label

In time it will become open for everyone hopefully.
I was asked to share it with a small number of beta testers, for their thoughts on it via feedback, the ones who will be receiving it is left to my discresion, and unlike many other places, who tend only to share with friends, I will give it to those who have in the past, taken the time and effort to post feedback on previous releases, as they are the ones, who in my opinion, deserve the oppertunity to test the beta firmware first. :good:

Hi all. Have been using it since it was posted and am well impressed so far. Not a single problem yet (and the EPG populated really fast, just hope it stores them and doesn't fade).

EPG populated quickly for me too and also hope it hangs on. Like the fact you can scroll with the left and right keys on info to see later programming on that channel.
Great feature I found in the personal planner is to add buffer to the start and end of the recordings, this is excellent saves me having to do it manually now.
Did a scan on a transponder also without crashing, but will keep an eye on this one as it was intermittant.
Ok - I've finally had so time to play with this a little... here are my thoughts and observations.
1. Stability
Seems to be really stable so far - had no crashes yet and so far has been trouble free. I'll need to live with it for a few days to see if there are any niggles, but so far so good :good:
2. The info bar changes
Press Green button for help - this contains a few FAQS, fortec contat details, and the signal strength/quality meters that used to be on the bottom right of the info bar. In place of these on the info bar is the real digital logo which you can see here: http://www.realdigitaltv.com/
Pressing Yellow button takes you into the personal planner where you can see all the records and reminders.
Pressing < or > on the remote cycles through the EPG data so you can now easily see whats on the channel for the next few hours - this is excellent!
3. Radio
Not sure if this changed in a previous build or not but definitely on one of the earlier firmware versions the radio stations used to take a long time for the audio to kick in. Now its pretty quick - within a second or so of picking the channel.
4. Startup
The real digital logo shows on start up
5. Recording
Need to play around/test this, but there is the option to pad recording timers to avoid missing the start/end of the program - also an excellent addition! I'll try and setup a few recording timers to see how things go and report back again.
6. EPG
I noticed it lost my data over night, but it does fill up pretty quickly when you go to the EPG screen. I think the colours have changed a little in the EPG - it's now a 'Real Digital' blue rather than the orange.
In summary....
So far, it looks a really good release. I'll do some further testing throughout the day/tonight to see if I can replicate the bug that used to loose the program information if you quickly changed channels, and to see what else works/doesn't.
So far, I'd give fortec an extremely positive thumbs up. Looks so far to be an excellent build, though I need to play around with the recording and tuning to check these things out some more.

Thanks for the feedback, so far this beta release is looking quite promising, but do keep your feedback coming, regardless of wheather it is posative or negative.

The engineers are aware of this problem, and are currently working on it.

Hi. Yes definately lost some epg data overnite but I have used various tasks all day (recording, scanning, changing from usb hdd to stick etc) and so far not a single reboot. Its looking good.
Have noticed if viewing a non freesat channel and turn unit off it goes to 28 east (to keep the epg updated if turned on in menu) thats good, But if you decide to turn the unit back on within a couple of minutes it tries to show your last viewed channel ( say one on 0.8w) but does not move the dish back to the satellite so you get the message no signal. This does not occur if you leave the unit turned off for about 5 minutes, As when you turn it on it returns to the last viewed satellite. Only a slight problem in real terms though.

Turned live rewind back on this afternoon and did a lot of pausing and fast forward trying to sync the rugby broadcast on thor with the internet audio stream and all worked perfectly, no reboots and all worked as it should.
Turned back to 28.2 after being on thor all afternoon and all epg data still there, a good sign.
Looking good so far.

Some further testing - I can't recreate the issue where if you flick through the channels quick enough that it loses the now/next/epg data - seems like it might have been resolved.
One thing I did notice in testing this (which may be why I can't recreate the bug) is the speed it takes to change the channels has noticeably slowed down from the previous versions. This isn't a problem and the speed is perfectly acceptable, it's just slower than it was and it'll take a bit of getting used to if you scan up/down the channels rather than key in a number.
Firmware looks really good so far to be honest...

I have had the epg data loss problem too but not sure if it was from flicking through quickly (which happens quite a bit in our house with the wife & kids) or whether it just lost it. As Laurels said above though, engineers are working on this at the moment.
That so far is the only fault I've found.

I've noticed something strange about the epg data loss.
If you use the info button on a channel that has no information on the epg you can scroll through the whole night using the arrow buttons. Then, when you press epg there is still nothing there. I checked this on five, itv hd and itv3 that data was missing in the epg for. Weird.

Just noticed EPG Grid mode has double entries for each programme for the first few programmes of each day.
How many people are testing this version?
It would seem to be only 4 judging by the current reports..
:confused8 :confused8 :confused8
I would have thought the more people testing it the better??

I noticed on one of the screens that favorite (or favourite - UK spelling) was on screen without the e - i.e. favorit

Totally agree. I couldn't get the password either.
I'm on V1.17, but anyhow, according to the what's new list, nothing really interests me. I'm waiting for a release where the card slots actually do something useful (ie. Multicrypt) so I can free-up my Dragon cam (using it for my Viaccess card).
FWIW, my feedback for V117 is that it's pretty robust. I haven't had a reboot yet, timer works, recordings play back well etc. Software is not the best designed re. navigation etc, but I can live with it. Picture is great, BTW.
Only slight problem is using the "jump-forward" mode during playback. Seems a bit temperamental - it would be better to have a "scrolling" type jump-forward (eg. keeping button pushed to advance forward).
My last Fortec was an Ultimate (binned it) which was total crap - the Innovation is a massive improvement.

If you read the initial post in this thread, you will see the following statement, what part of it are you having trouble understanding ?.
This firmware release is protected, and is available only too those that have received the password via PM, If you have not received the password, then it will be pointless in downloading this release.
This thread is for feedback only, so please do not post here, unless it is regarding feedback to this current release.
Just back from holiday and tried to extract the zip file using latest version of winzip but it cannot open it and does not ask me for a password. It says it does not recognise the encryption method?! I removed winzip and tried the windows version that reports: File skipped unknown compression method. Am I having a 'senior moment'?? Sorted.....I tried latest version of Winzip.

Completely remove WinZip from your computer, and then reinstall a fresh copy of it, and if that still fails, let me know, and I shall upload a Winrar version for you, and hope that will allow you access.

Hi . Just an update........ And its still good news, Still not a single reboot since installing. Apart from the previous reported epg losses nothing else to report back (as they say no news is good news).

Hi. Just got in from work turned on system went to EPG and it was empty except for the channel that was last viewing before being switched off last night. My system has been left facing 28E since turning off so it must be an update problem. Must say once I turned it back on it has started to update imediately.
Another thing I have noticed with this release is that the OK button has to be held longer than previously ( a quick press and it does not respond). To me this is not a problem as it cancels accidental presses, But try telling that to my wife as she screams "I PRESSED IT" and I'm ducking the remote flying through the air towards me. I thought maybe it was the remote batterys getting weak so changed them, But that made no improvement. Then found exactly the same time is required when useing the OK button on the front panel.

Exaclty the same today for me on epg after having it on standby last night and switching it on this morning.
Not had the problem with the ok button but I'm using a universal remote.

Just to add - also not had a single reboot since installing.
It is definitely a bit slower changing channels and moving around the EPG and so on, but it's not too slow - it's just noticeable as it is slightly slower than before,

I had the user time setting revert to on on it's own this evening.
Very stable release as said before, I've done scans and all sorts without a reboot so far.

Just noticed now, mine is slower typing in a channel number. Might try to power on/off at the switch rather than going into standby to see if this speeds up afterwards...

Spoke too soon again, 2 box reboots scanning a transponder with advanced scan on hotbird just now.
I installed the new software onto both of my Innovation receivers: one with Real-sat on 28.5E and the other with multi-sat. So far REAL system has behaved faultlessly but the multi-sat system keeps crashing when trying to search for the Euro transponder on 7E which on the previous version was also a problem the signal strenth and quality show 80% plus but it cannot find the channels. Another gripe is the lack of any detailed descriptions of functionality of the receiver. It's a challenge for me so how does a new user cope?
bouncerdove
15th-May-2009, 17:02
Hi. Just gave this a try, deleted the euro1080 on 7E then done a rescan. No problems at all. Signal strenght was 95% and quality 90%.
Regards bouncerdove
Thanks
I wish I knew why it didn't work for me. Probably something silly and simple.
Is there any chance you could put a settings file on the forum with the Euro channels so I can import it to see if that works?
bouncerdove
15th-May-2009, 20:49
Hi E2R. Yes will post all my settings when I can get control of the tv off my wife, Will probably be tomorrow though when she's at work :-)
Many thanks. Is it possible that the Innovation receiver I'm using is too slow to detect the channels. The signal strength and quality are excellent then when I press the yellow key both go to zero and the search then saves nothing and after a delay the signal strength returns. Weird.
I'll swop the two receivers around and see if my other one can find the channels............ And the result is identical. The channels are definately there but when any search starts the Innovation misses them as the signal strength drops below threshold???!!!
However when I import a Euro 1080 channel the receivers works fine and display the one channel I have found on an old settings file.

Hi. To me I would suspect the IF of the LNB to be out of frequency with the reciever, As you get a good signal but when the afc of the reciever tries to tune to the frequency it is out of its range, It maybe that the frequency is just border line and this is giving you the problem. If possible try another LNB. As this is out of scope of this thread, it may be wise to start another thread as I dont think it is the update giving you trouble.
My settings are... Multisat. Time = Manual set, Auto rename = Off, Power update = Off, 7 day EPG = On, Live rewind = Off, USB power = Off. Hope this helps.

hi all,
Been reviewing this all week (and keeping an eye on peoples posts) and I do have a few issues but these have been mentioned before anyway.
I've had no reboots! but found the box becoming more and more sluggish as the week went on, I just gave it its first off and back on and its responsive again although changing channel once by one does have a small delay that was not there on the previous release.
The EPG has lost its data a few times but fills up quite quickly.
I'm only on a static 28.2E dish setup so can't comment on the rotary side of things.
All in all, a great stable release.
cheers

I think I'm of the opinion now that it's too slow when typing channel numbers.
It's so easy to make a mess of typing in a channel number because there is such a lag after pressing a button that its pretty painful to type in a number and you can easily get it wrong many times!
