Can someone who is experiancing problems with the video of Channel 4, check out this firmware, and let me know if it fixes the problem, or not, ASAP, thanks.

As I do not suffer any such problem, I obviously can not check it myself.

Thanks for the feedback, I shall await for others to also verify, before I forward any results.

The more feedback posted the better, as it shall obviously give a bigger overall picture, so please, everyone who has tested the latest firmware, if you could post your views, then it will be realy appreciated by all.

Trying out test 5 just now and it looks OK on first boot. Will report back after it's been running for a few hours.

22 Downloads, and only 2 members have taken the time to post feedback, it would seem that the majority of users, are simply more interested in just posting complaints.

I've just loaded the latest test.

Test 5 is nice and smooth so far.
I'll put my own EPG back on and observe the offending channels periodically.
It would be best to observe it over a day or so of normal use.

It would be best to observe it over a day or so of normal use.
As I do not fully understand this issue, concerning the video on Channel 4 etc,
I was under the impression, that one could tell if the firmware was okay or not, after just an hour or so of using it, if I am wrong, which certainly seems the case, then I do appolagise, especially for making the comments within the above Post #5, it would seem as though I was jumping the gun here.

Well, I think we have moved on from a situation where the juddering was a problem difficult to avoid,(for some of us) to one where we are throwing everything at it waiting for it to happen. I would say that was real progress. :dazed:

I always put the receiver in standby overnight, and the problem was always waiting for me in the morning.
If it doesn't appear tomorrow, I'll let you know. (Don't expect it to be too early though  )

I can only imagine, how frustrating it must be, for all those that are experiancing those problems, so I realy do hope, that this firmware release, will finally address it once and for all.

I've had test 5 running for 6 hours now and no sign of the jitters or spontaneous dish movement. This is looking like the most promising beta for this problem so far.

:ummmm: Apologies for being one of the downloaders who hasn't reported back yet. Haven't had a chance to instal it yet but should be able to have a play this afternoon and get back to you accordingly.¤|

As promised a report on Test 5

No jitters, judders or jerks !!!!

Normally the Saturday morning 'Time teams' on 'More 4' are affected by this when I first turn on the receiver.
No problems this morning.:hoorah:

I'll keep monitoring.

I've had Test 5 running for 1 day now.
I've given the box such a work-out it doesn't know which day it is. :whistler:
I've also left it on Film Four all evening.
I've done everything I can to get it juddering and have failed.

I don't want to be the first one to say, 'Success' (and looking a pratt when it comes back), but I am highly optimistic.

My heart felt thanks to all who have worked on this. Especially since it wasn't a universal problem. Nice my friend.

Judging by all the feedback, I would also tend to agree with you, in assuming it has now been succesfully addressed.

Thanks Laurals (and Fortecstar).

I've checked it again today, and the problem is not re-occuring .
The receiver is now judder/jitter/jerky free. :good:

Yet again the support on this receiver has been first class.

Hi Guys..
Been away for a few weeks on Holiday just got back and have now Updated my Passion with the New Loader V.150 and the latest S/W V."2p_av114_20080627""
DID NOT bother with all other Versions ..straight onto the Latest..!
As I have NOT been experiencing any problems I was a little amazed at all the Post's regarding this issue.
So I wanted to see if this new S/W version makes any difference.
As yet and its been a few Hours of Testing I can report NO major problems at all..!!
ALL seems to be working as before NO such thing as Glitches ..Shaking or Shuddering Pics.!
I Just Loaded the Loader V150..Turned HDB OFF at Mains..
Loaded the S/W and again turned HDB OFF and back ON at Mains again..
IT even kept my Channel List as it was.. so I am very pleased with this Result.
Some Folks report that they DO a Factory Reset..I have NEVER done this after S/W Loading and am having NO problems what so ever.!
The only thing I have noticed is that the ITV HD is "Currently NOT Broadcasting" and ITV 2+1 has vanished.
ITV HD was ON and working fine with Audio before I left on Holiday so I am assumimg that its a only having a Break and NOT actually GONE OFF AIR..?
and ITV 2+1 does anyone know whats happened I am assuming they have ceased Transmissions..?
Hope this little Feed-back Helps
Cheers
Andrew

It's always a wise decision to do a factory reset, especially before installing new firmware, as this will avoid any undue conflicts.

These latest firmware release's, were aimed at those users who were experiancing video problems, with Channel 4 etc.
If you experiance no such problem, then theres no need to install the firmware.

Thanks for the new ITV 2+1 Freq..have found it now.
As far as the Factory Reset is concerned well I suppose it makes sense.. I was always under the impression "If it works don't fix it"

Will check out this procedure with the next Update.

Many thanks to all involved!

Laurals it seems that we now have a fix.
Will Fortec offer any explanation of what was wrong? Not that it matters, just curious.

I've only just loaded this s/w as I never had the problem, so still going through scanning
Actually I've loaded the new official 1.14 s/w from Fortec, which I think will be the beta version released here a few days ago

Fortec have put this new firmware on their website:
V1.14 ( June 27, 2008)

Is it the same as Test 5?

Installed this firmware yesterday, and it solved the juddering Channel 4 family problems.

Problem i have now though is that when searching for channels, the box will turn off, and reset itself.

Its done this twice, and i have not tried it again since.

Anyone else have this problem?

Hi Ramsfan, yes I had this problem while trying to scan from factory reset with network search enabled. In the end I loaded the default channel list and then scanned the extra channels in from there. I only use this receiver for Astra @28 east so I dont know if the problem exists while scanning other sats. Does it do a full scan to 100% then reboot instead of saving ?

Hey Mouseman, thanks for your reply...

I am also only using it for Astra 28 east. So i have no idea either if this affects other sats.

No, it doesn't get to 100%, it gets to around 10/15% then switches off and reboots.

Not too fussed at the moment, as there aren't any channels worth searching for, but in the long run, when more are launched for FreeSat, this will become a problem. But i usually run a scan once a week or so to see if there any changes, etc.

Thanks, RamsFan

Just thought I'd add my thanks for this ch4 etc fix.
I've had this problem for ages now and rarely been able to view these channels without thinking I had a problem with my eyesight. (I tended to resort to my sky box or freeview).
I have only just discovered the 114 update on the Fortec site as my receiver is in my holiday home and I haven't been here since the end of May. I first commented about the jerking on May 18th
I use my saved channel list and added the ITV HD manually, and all works fine, except Channel 4 and E4 etc (all the 4's) suffer the same 'jerkiness' problem of Film 4 and +1.

BUT - once again thanks for the fix, fingers crossed, all looks fine now
